The Department of Justice has decided to release part of the special counsel’s investigation into now President-elect Donald Trump’s attempts to undo the results of the 2020 presidential election, but not the entire report.

The information was released in a filing Wednesday to a federal appeals court which was considering Trump’s attorneys’ requests to block the report as charges against two co-defendants are pending, The Associated Press reported.

CNN reported that the DOJ will not release the portion concerning the alleged mishandling of classified documents. Judge Aileen Cannon blocked the release of both volumes on Tuesday at Trump’s and his co-defendants in the classified documents case.

Because that portion would not be released, the DOJ said the rest of the report should be blocked.

“There is neither any need nor legal basis for an injunction,” the DOJ stated, according to CNN. “The Attorney General intends to release Volume One to Congress and the public consistent… in furtherance of the public interest in informing a co-equal branch and the public regarding this significant matter. But to avoid any risk of prejudice to defendants Nauta and De Oliveira, the Attorney General has determined, at the recommendation of the Special Counsel, that he will not publicly release Volume Two so long as defendants’ criminal proceedings remain pending.”

The DOJ did not say when the report would be released, the AP reported.
