Tulsa’s Promenade Mall came to a close on Sunday following a decades-long retail run.

The decision was made by the owners to close the mall after the building was cited for several fire code violations a couple of weeks ago. To comply with safety code standards, the mall hired a fire watch team to monitor the mall.

The building first opened in the 1960s and then a second floor was added in 1985. It’s unclear what the owners plan to do with the building.

KRMG called the main number, but the line was disconnected.

District 5 City Councilor Grant Miller says Dillard’s, Genisis Health Club, and the ice rink will be able to stay because they have their own fire suppression system.

The Manager at the Finish line confirmed that they are closing and have to be out by Sunday.

The mall was issued a citation this week from the Tulsa Fire Department for not having an adequate fire suppression system.

The owner of Promenade Mall had said the mall was working with the fire marshal to stay in compliance, but eventually decided to end the system put in place to keep them open.
