OWASSO, Okla. — Oklahoma Senators James Lankford and Jim Inhofe have introduced legislation to rename a post office in Owasso after a fallen airman.
Technical Sergeant Marshal Roberts was killed in action on March 11, 2020 in Iraq. He was deployed with the 219th Engineering Installation Squadron, a unit of the 138th Fighter Wing of the Oklahoma National Guard.
The legislation would rename the post office to the “Technical Sergeant Marshal Roberts Post Office Building.”
“Naming a post office to honor Technical Sergeant Roberts’ heroic actions and dutiful patriotism in his hometown of Owasso will serve as a reminder to his family, friends, and service members of the ultimate sacrifice he gave on behalf of our grateful nation,” said Lankford and Inhofe.
Roberts grew up in Owasso and spent time in Claremore as an adult. Last year, a section of Highway 20 between the two cities was dedicated to Roberts.
