If you’ve been following this season of American Idol, Oklahoma has had a lot of cameos when it comes to contestants auditioning. During the March 19 episode, one Oklahoma State University student really entertained judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie by playing more than one instrument during his audition.

Owen Eckhardt, who is earning his degree in animal science at OSU, brought out his guitar and a harmonica as he showcased his naturally raspy vocals while covering “Something in the Orange” by Zach Bryan.

Although the Broken Arrow native wasn’t one of the biggest standouts of the evening for the celebrity cast, it did earn him a Golden Ticket to Hollywood to compete amongst his peers!

Fans can keep up with Eckhardt’s American Idol journey Sunday nights at 7 p.m. (CT) on ABC.
